I would like to inform you about past and upcoming projects:
On September 13th, the first Yellow Lounge is going to take place in Beijing (China) and with Daniel Hope. On September 19th, Yellow Lounge will be back at the Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg. At the end of September, on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the city of Kempten, I will present a painterly interpretation of Kempten's recent history in the form of a video mapping installation onto the Residenz monastery complex. Directly afterwards, from October 3rd to 6th, I will show my ongoing project, «Feldkirch Fades», on the occasion of the first light art festival in Feldkirch (Austria). On October 9th, the vernissage of my multi-part exhibition «inBetween» is going to take place at Sanofi at Potsdamer Platz – the exhibition at Sanofi will be open to the public from October 10th to November 11th. On October 19th and 20th, the Weilheim Light Art Festival will take place for the second time. As a curator, I was able to invite exciting, internationally active artists to Weilheim such as Laszlo Bordos, the «Anu» theater, Björn Dahlem, Robert Seidel, Boris Petrovsky, and Vanessa Hafenbraedl. I will present a large-scale, walk-in installation at Marienplatz entitled «Fading Weilheim» and turn Marienplatz into an accessible, immersive space of light.
Retrospective: On the occasion of the 300th anniversary of Benecke-Kaliko, I showed a free, artistic projection mapping installation from June 6th to 9th in Hannover. Within the scope of the opening of the new museum «Haus der Bayerischen Geschichte» in Regensburg, my site-specific and walk-in light art/video mapping installation was presented on June 9th and 10th. At the same weekend, which coincided with the World Heritage Day, I projected a large-scale light art installation onto the adjacent facades of the «Steinerne Brücke». On Monday, June 11th, I presented live visuals in Berlin as part of the Yellow Lounge at the «Säälchen». On the following Friday, June 16th, I transformed a huge VW machine shop into a live video installation as part of the Morgenland Festival in Osnabrück, together with the MORGENLAND ALL-STAR BAND. On June 21st, I developed an artistic projection mapping installation on the occasion of the opening of the TORTUE hotel in the Stadthöfe district in Hamburg with music by Lukas Taido. A special highlight was the installation from June 27th to July 5th in Jerusalem: As part of my series, I was able to present «Time Drifts Jerusalem» as a site-specific video mapping/light art installation during the 10th Jerusalem Light Art Festival.

gerne möchte ich über vergangene und kommende Projekte informieren:
Am 13. September findet die erste Yellow Lounge in Beijing (China) statt, mit Daniel Hope. Am 19.September geht es, wieder mit der Yellow Lounge, nach Hamburg zum Reeperbahn Festival. Ende September, anlässlich des 200-jährigen Jubiläums von Kempten, zeige ich eine malerische Interpretation der neueren Geschichte Kemptens als VideoMapping-Installation auf die Residenz. Direkt im Anschluss, vom 3.-6. Oktober, zeige ich mein fortlaufendes Projekt 'Feldkirch Fades' anlässlich des ersten Lichtkunst-Festivals in Feldkirch (Österreich). Am neunten Oktober findet die Vernissage meiner mehrteiligen Ausstellung inBetween bei Sanofi am Potsdamer Platz statt - die Ausstellung wird vom 10. Oktober bis 11. November bei Sanofi zu sehen sein. Am 19./20. Oktober findet zum zweiten Mail das Lichtkunst-Festival Weilheim statt. Als Kurator konnte ich spannende, international tätige Künstler wie Laszlo Bordos, das Theater Anu, Björn Dahlem, Robert Seidel, Boris Petrovsky und Vanessa Hafenbraedl nach Weilheim einladen. Ich werde eine großflächige, begehbare Installation am Marienplatz mit dem Titel 'Fading Weilheim‘ zeigen und den Marienplatz in einen begehbaren, immersiven Lichtraum verwandeln.
Rückblick: Anlässlich des 300-jährigen Jubiläums von Benecke-Kaliko zeigte ich eine freie, künstlerische Projection-Mapping-Installation vom 6.-9. Juni in Hannover. Im Rahmen der Eröffnung des neuen Museums Haus der Bayerischen Geschichte in Regensburg war meine ortsspezifische und begehbare Lichtkunst-/ VideoMapping-Installation am 9./ 10. Juni zu sehen. Parallel bespielte ich am selben Wochenende mit einer großflächigen Lichtkunst-Installation die angrenzenden Fassaden der Steinernen Brücke am Welterbe-Tag. Am Montag, der 11. Juni, zeigte ich Live-Visuals in Berlin im Rahmen der Yellow Lounge im Säälchen. Am 16. Juni verwandelte ich in Osnabrück eine riesige VW-Maschinenhalle in eine Live-Videoinstallation im Rahmen des Morgenland-Festivals zusammen mit der MORGENLAND ALL-STAR BAND. Für den 21. Juni erarbeitete ich eine künstlerische Projection-Mapping-Installation anlässlich der Eröffnung des Hotels TORTUE in den Stadthöfen in Hamburg, vertont wurde die Installation von Lukas Taido. Ein besonderes Highlight war meine Installation vom 27. Juni bis 5. Juli in Jerusalem. Dort konnte ich, als Teil meiner Reihe, 'Time Drifts Jerusalem‘ als ortsspezifische VideoMapping-/ Lichtkunst-Installation im Rahmen des 10. Jerusalem-Lichtkunst-Festivals zeigen.

Die Projekte Künstlers sind gekennzeichnet durch ein komplexes Zusammenspiel von Raum, Ton und Bewegtbild. Seine Video-Mapping-Installationen verwandeln verschiedenste Architekturen in bewegte, malerische Lichtskulpturen, welche die Wahrnehmung der Betrachter herausfordern.

"Mister Beam," as the media affectionately call him, is the grand master of video mapping. With projectors, he creates spectacular light installations and thrills millions of people around the world. 'Light has the great fascination that one can reach a spatiality that is not possible with any other medium," says the Berliner Lichtkünstler.
The artist's projects are characterized by a complex interplay of space, sound and moving image. His video-mapping installations transform a wide variety of architectures into moving, picturesque light sculptures that challenge the viewer's perception.
He was already enthusiastic not only in German cities such as Frankfurt, Munich or Berlin with his large screen projections, he also enchanted with his work in Rome, Bangkok or even Rio de Janeiro.
In Kempten, he will bring the facade of the residence to life - with visually stunning scenes from Kempten's past.

Im 800. Jubiläumsjahr der Stadt Feldkirch werden 2018 erstmalig internationale Künstler eingeladen, Beiträge für das neue Lichtkunstfestival 'Lichtstadt Feldkirch“ zu realisieren. Vom 3. - 6. Oktober werden die historischen Gebäude der Altstadt an vier Abenden zu Spielorten von Installationen, Skulpturen, Projektionen auf Fassade und Boden oder Laserprojektionen, Mappings und Lichtobjekten. Das Erbe der humanistischen Tradition Feldkirchs ist im Stadtbild allgegenwärtig und bildet einen vielfältigen und offenen inhaltlichen Rahmen unseres Denkens in Verbindung mit dem Medium Licht in der zeitgenössischen Kunst.
Das Lichtkunstfestival wird biennal realisiert und strebt einen festen Platz in der vitalen Kunst- und Kulturszene Vorarlbergs an. Wir freuen uns 2018 unter anderem auf Beiträge von Olafur Eliasson, Thilo Frank, Philipp Geist und David Reumüller.

Bis zum 24. September 2018 sammelt Philipp Geist Begriffe und Wörter, die der deutsche Lichtkünstler in seine multimediale Installation 'Feldkirch Fades' integriert
Für das historische Zentrum Feldkirchs entwickelt der deutsche Lichtkünstler Philipp Geist (geb. 1976) unter dem Titel 'Feldkirch Fades' eine multimediale Installation. Mittels Großbildprojektoren und passgenauem Videomapping wird der Platz an der Kreuzung Neustadt und Marokkanerstraße, die Fassade der alten Dogana sowie Teile der westlichen Fassade der Schattenburg zu einem immersiven urbanen Lichtraum, der die Besucher eintauchen lässt. Im Zusammenspiel von Licht, Klang, Raum und Bewegung, entsteht ein Gesamterlebnis, das beim Durchschreiten immer neue Perspektiven auf das vertraute Areal eröffnet. Philipp Geist integriert Wörter und Begriffe zur Bedeutung des Orts, zu deren Einreichung Anrainer und Besucher eingeladen werden. Die Umsetzung der gesammelten Begriffe in typografische Bildkompositionen erzielt eine abstrakt-malerisch Wirkung und ist entscheidend mit dem Ort und den Menschen die ihn gestalten verbunden. Auf Nebelwänden sind diese Wörter kurzzeitig sichtbar und verschwinden wieder. Als immaterielle Projektionsfläche symbolisieren sie Gedanken, Visionen und Inspirationen, stehen aber auch als Metapher für Vergänglichkeit.
Ab sofort und bis zum 24. September 2018 läd Philipp Geist ein, Wörter und Begriffe zu den Themen 'Feldkirch“, '800 Jahre“, 'Zeit“, 'Altstadt“, 'Moderne“ und 'Menschen“ unter der Emailadresse Feldkirchfades@videogeist.de einzusenden.

Lichtstadt Feldkirch. Das Festival für Kunst mit Licht in Vorarlberg« ist ein neues kulturelles Format. Insgesamt 10 Projekte internationaler Künstlerinnen und Künstler, darunter ArtificialOwl, Olafur Eliasson, Thilo Frank, Philipp Geist, Neon Golden, David Reumüller, starsky, Nives Widauer, sowie Stoph Sauter feat. Rey Zorro, verwandeln die Feldkircher Altstadt vom 3.-6. Oktober 2018 mit Anbruch der Dunkelheit in ein großes Freilichtmuseum in historischer Kulisse.
Licht als Material und Medium gleichermaßen hat eine lange Tradition in der Bildenden Kunst. In Begleitung der licht-, energie- und medientechnischen Entwicklungen wird es fortwährend künstlerisch erforscht. Unter dem Begriff der Lichtkunst zusammengefasste künstlerische Positionen und Projekte manifestieren sich in zahlreichen Formaten, oftmals genreübergreifend. Lichtobjekte, Filme, Projektionen, Mappings und Skulpturen machen Raum, Zeit und Betrachter zu aktiven Bestandteilen der Arbeit. Die Kunst, der Stadtraum mit seinen vielen Geschichten und Gesichtern, sowie moderne Technologien werden im Rahmen von 'Lichtstadt Feldkirch' zu einem einzigartigen Gesamterlebnis zusammengeführt, welches sich in biennaler Durchführung zu einer festen Größe im spannenden kulturellen Leben der Region entwickeln soll.

Philipp Geist arbeitet weltweit als Künstler mit den Medien Projection Mapping/ Lichtinstallation, Fotografie und Malerei. Geists Projekte sind in erster Linie gekennzeichnet durch ihre Komplexität in der Integration von Raum, Ton und Bewegbild. Seine Arbeiten haben einen malerischen, bildkompositorischen Ansatz von Überlagerungen, Strukturen und grafischen Elementen. Ja, es gibt 2018 wieder ein Lichtkunst-Festival in Weilheim! Viele engagierte Förderer haben ihre finanzielle Unterstützung zugesagt und weitere Spendenaktionen laufen derzeit noch. Schon seit Monaten ist ein stetig anwachsendes Team an Ehrenamtlichen mit der Organisation beschäftigt. Danke an alle, die auf diese Weise das Festival möglich machen!
Künstlerischer Leiter ist wieder Philipp Geist, bekannte Namen aus der Lichtkunst-Szene haben seine Einladung angenommen, einige ortsspezifische Arbeiten sind gerade im Entstehen. Eines können wir schon jetzt versprechen: es wird wieder etwas zu staunen geben! Außerdem erweitern wir dieses Jahr das Programm um eine Ausstellung, mit der wir eine weitere Dimension der Lichtkunst-Landschaft präsentieren. Save the date!
Yes, there will be another light art festival in Weilheim in 2018! Many committed sponsors have pledged their financial support and further fundraisers are still ongoing. For months, a steadily growing team of volunteers has been working with the organization. Thanks to all who make the festival possible in this way!
Artistic director is again Philipp Geist, well-known names from the light art scene have accepted his invitation, some site-specific work is currently in the making. One thing we can promise already: it will be something to marvel again! In addition, this year we are expanding the program with an exhibition, with which we present another dimension of the light art landscape. Save the date!

The Artist Philipp Geist will develop the large scale walk able video mapping/ ground installation
'Time Drifts - Jerusalem“. In his light art installation Geist interprets the themes of space and time.
He avoids using canvases and projects directly on the facade, on the ground and on theater fog
streaming into the plaza. Abstract patterns and Words are projected onto the ground and visitors,
and they are reflected into the fog. Fog is, similar to time, always in a flux, you cannot hold or keep it.
The dissolving projection symbolizes the fragmentary knowledge and understanding of life in the past
and present, but knowledge is also secured and preserved in the form of text, clearly visible on the
concrete. The representations of history are being animated in the moment of the visitors
reflections. The dissolving projection symbolizes not only the fragmentary knowledge and
understanding of the life in the past, which is to be completed, but also the memory which must be
saved from disappearing and dissolving. Thus, Geist develops a dialogue with the location, his
artistic work and the people who are entering and leaving the gate and the square. The visitors can
be part of the installation by sending beforehand words via email. The visitor himself becomes part
of the projected image on the square. Words and abstract light painting with create an immersive
room.
This methodical approach to the theme 'time' is supported by the projected images themselves.
Words that relate to the topic both directly and indirectly cover the whole ground of the square.
Some terms and sentences are obvious references, some invite the visitor to think about the
phenomenon of time and its historical and cultural connotations. There will be single words,
quotations and proverbs.
The installation invites the visitors to stay and contemplate, to detect meanings in the thick carpet
of partly overlapping words, it asks the visitors to create their own sentences and imagination. The
carpet's threads of words are woven chaotically, and it takes time and movements across the
square to see and decipher them. It is the poetry of the texts and the dream-like atmosphere that
will transform the location. For the Jerusalem installation, words of time and space of the local
languages hebraic and arabic, english. Especially in Jerusalem and its long history and its special
meaning the topic of time in a artistic poetic light installation is inspiring. The the installation creates
a bridge between the past and the present between cultural understandings and worlds.
In the images which are projected onto the gate, Geist creates a pictorial, abstract imagery on the
computer which also refers to time. Geometrical, spatial forms like squares, cubes, perforated
planes, lines and rays, overlay each other in an on-going process and build up a complete picture
in order to dissolve it right away. The various elements create a complex architecture of images
which is always in a state of flux. By displaying depth and three-dimensionality, the work
symbolises the constantly developing, enlarging space of continuing time lines, and represents the
complex networks emerging from different spatial components spreading in the course of time.
The installation project is part of a series of installations named Time Drifts. Geist was able to
present the site-specific installation in different countries and locations. 2018 in Frankfurt at the

Wir öffnen das Museum für Sie von 18 bis 20 Uhr. Ab 19 Uhr präsentieren wir auf der Museumsbühne an der Eisernen Brücke die bayerische Popmusikerin Claudia Koreck mit der Vorband Hadé aus Regensburg. Nach Einbruch der Dunkelheit stellt Lichtkünstler Philipp Geist das neue Gebäude am Donaumarkt und das Welterbeensemble ins Zentrum einer spektakulären Lichtinstallation.

'Museum offen“ heißt es heute von 11 bis 21 Uhr. Führungen, Panorama- und Filmvorführungen sowie viele Stationen zum Mitmachen erwarten Sie den ganzen Tag. Der BR begleitet uns auf der Bühne an der Eisernen Brücke mit einem vielfältigen Unterhaltungsprogramm. Auch der zweite Festtag wird gegen 22 Uhr mit der Lichtinstallation von Philipp Geist abgeschlossen.
DER WELTERBETAG
WELTERBETAG UND STEINERNE BRÜCKE
Mit dem Welterbetag 2018 werden der Abschluss der Sanierungs- arbeiten an der Steinernen Brücke gefeiert und die Brücke ins Zentrum zahlreicher Aktionen gestellt. Die Thundorferstraße wird am 10. Juni von 11 bis 19 Uhr zur Kulturmeile erklärt. Hier gibt es vieles zum Erleben und Mitmachen. Am Marc-Aurel- Ufer gibt es Kulinarisches zu entdecken und ein Barfußpfad lädt zum Erfühlen der Brücke ein, auf der Jahninsel geht es sportlich zu, in Stadtamhof öffnen die Ateliers der Kulturstiftung im Andreasstadel und die Hochschule für Kirchenmusik.

Celebrating 300 Years of 'Ideas Beyond Surfaces'
Innovative surface materials have been manufactured in Hanover since 1718
Innovativeness and progressive thinking have been an ongoing tradition within the Benecke-Hornschuch Surface Group for centuries. 2018 sees the 300th anniversary of its establishment. This remarkable anniversary will be suitably celebrated.
For the grand anniversary celebration at the Hanover-Vinnhorst site from June 6–9, 2018, therefore, everything will revolve around “Ideas Beyond Surfaces”. The invitations for the event will be sent out in the early part of the year. Customers and industry decision-makers plus guests from the worlds of politics, business and society will share in the journey through time covering 300 years of surface material production – from the first idea to the future. The plant’s neighbors and interested applicants looking for a fresh start will also be able to take a look behind the scenes, after prior registration.

Innovationskraft und Fortschrittsdenken sind innerhalb der Benecke-Hornschuch Surface Group eine bereits seit Jahrhunderten gelebte Tradition. 2018 jährt sich die Gründung zum 300. Mal. Dieses außergewöhnliche Jubiläum wird angemessen gefeiert.
Vom 6. bis 9. Juni 2018 steht daher am Standort Hannover-Vinnhorst bei der großen Jubiläumsfeier alles im Zeichen von 'Ideas Beyond Surfaces“. Die Einladungen für die Veranstaltung werden im Frühjahr verschickt. Die Zeitreise durch 300 Jahre Oberflächenproduktion – von der ersten Idee bis in die Zukunft – können nicht nur Kunden und Branchenentscheider sowie Gäste aus Politik, Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft erleben. Auch die Nachbarn des Werks genauso wie interessierte Bewerber, die sich neu orientieren wollen, bekommen die Möglichkeit, nach vorheriger Anmeldung einen Blick hinter die Fassade zu werfen.

For the very first time, the Morgenland Festival will be guest at VW. Unusual sounds for the Production Hall 2, where the gigantic machines which produce the bodywork are developed – and, for the musicians, as well as the audience, a rare opportunity to experience this industrial site, which is seeped in tradition.
The Morgenland All Star Band is a formation made up of fantastic musicians, who have all been connected with the festival for years. The home countries of the musicians are symbolic for the geographic range of the festival and its rich diversity, from traditional music to jazz and rock music. In the last few years the band has not just thrilled audiences in Osnabrück, but was also a sensation in places such as Amsterdam, Beirut, Izmir and Almaty, as well as many cities in China.
The Ensemble of the Morgenland Campus will open the concert. This workshop for students is organized by the Institute for Music of the University of Applied Science together with the Festival.
The lighting design for the evening is in the hands of Philipp Geist. This outstanding light artist has worked not just in classical concert halls, such as the Elbphilharmonie or the Konzerthaus in Berlin, but also at the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, Cologne Cathedral, the royal throne in Bangkok and the Azadi Tower in Tehran, as well as in innumerable other places all over the world. Geist’s projects are primarily marked by their complexity when integrating space, sound and moving images. His installations transform architecture into moving, artistic light sculptures, which challenge the viewers’ perception of two and three dimensionality.
Zum ersten Mal gastiert das Morgenland Festival bei VW. Ungewohnte Klänge für die Werkshalle 2, in der riesige Werkzeuge für den Karosseriebau entwickelt werden – und für Musiker wie Publikum die seltene Gelegenheit, diesen traditionsreichen Industriestandort zu erleben.
Die Morgenland All Star Band ist eine Formation großartiger MusikerInnen, die dem Festival seit Jahren verbunden ist. Die Herkunftsländer der Musiker stehen symbolisch für die geografische Reichweite des Festivals, ihre Musik für seinen Facettenreichtum, von traditioneller Musik bis zu Jazz und Rock. Die Band hat in den vergangenen Jahren nicht nur das Publikum in der Friedensstadt begeistert, sondern auch in Amsterdam, Beirut, Izmir, Almaty und vielen Städten Chinas für Furore gesorgt.
Als Vorband spielt das Ensemble des Morgenland Campus. Diesen Workshop für Studenten richtet das Institut für Musik der Hochschule Osnabrück gemeinsam mit dem Festival aus.
Der herausragende Lichtkünstler Philipp Geist wird die Werkzeughalle von VW live illuminieren. Geist hat nicht nur klassische Konzertsäle wie die Elbphilharmonie oder das Konzerthaus Berlin bespielt, sondern auch die Christusstatue von Rio de Janeiro, den Kölner Dom, den königlichen Thron in Bangkok, den Azadi-Turm in Teheran und unzählige andere Orte weltweit. Geists Projekte sind in erster Linie gekennzeichnet durch ihre Komplexität in der Integration von Raum, Ton und Bewegbild. Seine Installationen verwandeln Architektur in bewegte, malerische Lichtskulpturen, die die Wahrnehmung der Betrachter von Zwei- und Dreidimensionalität herausfordern.

Der durch seine spektakulären Lichtinstallationen bekannte Berliner Künstler Philipp Geist zeigt zwei raumfüllende Arbeiten im Schafhof: Das Tonnengewölbe wird zu der begehbaren Video-Raum-Installation InBetween. Abstrahierte, malerische Bildkompositionen sowie Begriffe und Wörter werden von mehreren Seiten auf Strukturen im Raum projiziert. Die Besucher können sich darin bewegen und tauchen damit mit allen Sinnen in den emotional aufgeladenen Raum ein.
Im Erdgeschoss nimmt die Multikanal-Videoarbeit Riverine Zones die Betrachter mit auf eine Entdeckungsreise durch Flüsse in aller Welt. Mit einer Unterwasser-Kamera eröffnet der Künstler Perspektiven, die uns so nah und gleichzeitig doch so fern sind. Bei dem Projekt ist der Ansatz nur teilweise dokumentarisch, vielmehr versinkt der Betrachter in einem alternativen Zeit-Raum, dessen ganz eigene Gesetze und Bewegungen er auf sich wirken lässt.
