Currently, from December 6th, 2018 to January 1st, 2019, “Winter Lights” is taking place on the façade of the Tortue Hotel in the Stadthöfe district in Hamburg. The installation can be visited daily from 5 pm to 9 pm. On January 1st, 2019, I will be showing a projection mapping installation on the Tiber Island (Insula Tiberina) in Rome. Now a small review of the year 2018, which was another exciting year with thrilling and inspiring projects: At the Dubai Opera and the Emirate Palace Auditorium in Abu Dhabi, I collaborated on two sensational concerts with the Baltic Sea Philharmonics, soloist Mikhail Simonyan and conductor Kristjan Järvi, and implemented a large-scale live artistic video installation. With Yellow Lounge and Deutsche Grammophon, I was in Beijing with Daniel Hope and Peter Gregson (Sept 18) and in Shanghai with Yuja Wang and Andreas Ottensamer (Nov 2018). A special highlight this year was undoubtedly the second Light Art Festival in Weilheim, with over 40,000 visitors on two evenings, during which I was the artistic director and contributing artist. Other highlights were the “Feldkirch Fades” installation during the 1st Light City of Feldkirch Festival, “200 years Kempten” at the Residenz, a monastery complex, “Time Drifts Jerusalem” on the occasion of “In Lights”, the 10th Light Art Festival in Jerusalem, my double project at the Steinerne Brücke and the Museum of Bavarian History in Regensburg, the “inBetween” and “Riverine Zones” installations at the European House of Art in Freising, and the “Frankfurt Drifts” walk-in installation at the Römer, a medieval landmark in Frankfurt, with approx. 250,000 visitors. Derzeit findet vom 6. Dezember 2018 bis zum 1. Januar 2019 das Projekt ?Winter Lights' an der Fassade des Tortue Hotels an den Stadthöfen in Hamburg statt. Die Installation ist täglich von 17-21 Uhr zu sehen. Am 1. Januar 2019 zeige ich an der Tiberinsel (Insula Tiberina) in Rom eine Projection Mapping Installation. Nun ein kleiner Rückblick auf das Jahr 2018, es war wieder ein spannendes Jahr mit aufregenden und inspirierenden Projekten: In der Dubai Opera und im Emirate Palace Auditorium in Abu Dhabi konnte ich bei zwei sensationellen Konzerten mit den Baltic Sea Philharmonics, dem Solisten Mikhail Simonyan und dem Dirigenten Kristjan Järvi mitwirken und eine großflächige künstlerische Live Videoinstallation umsetzen. Mit der Yellow Lounge und der Deutschen Grammophon war ich mit Daniel Hope und Peter Gregson (Sept’ 18) in Beijing und mit Yuja Wang und Andreas Ottensamer (Nov’ 18) in Shanghai. Ebenso Höhepunkte waren die Installation 'Feldkirch Fades' zum 1. Lichtstadt-Feldkirch-Festival, und die Installation ?200-Jahre-Kempten‘ an der Residenz, die Installation ?Time Drifts Jerusalem' anlässlich des 10jährigen Lichtkunst-Festival Jerusalem 'In Lights‘, mein Doppelprojekt an der Steinernen Brücke und dem Museum für Bayerische Geschichte in Regensburg, die Installationen 'inBetween‘ und 'Riverine Zones' in Freising am Europäisches Künstlerhaus in Freising und anlässlich der Luminale meine begehbare Installation 'Frankfurt Drifts' am Frankfurter Römer mit ca. 250.000 Besuchern. In occasione della notte di San Silvestro 2016/2017 Geist ha proiettato sul Duomo di Colonia l’installazione Time Drifts Cologne. Ha realizzato moltissime installazioni artistiche luminose: a Dakar/Senegal in occasione di Art Dakar, a Puna/India in occasione del festival della luce di Diwali, nel 2015 Gate of Words/torre di Azadi a Teheran, in Iran. Nel 2014 ha creato a Rio de Janeiro una video installazione con la statua di Cristo Redentore, famosa in tutto il mondo, proiettandola in grandi dimensioni su una favela. A Dhaka, in Bangladesh, nel 2014 ha realizzato l’installazione “Hidden Places” sulle rovine di un palazzo. Geist ha ricevuto nel 2013 il premio tedesco di design dedicato alla luce nella categoria light art. A novembre del 2014 in occasione dei 25 anni dall’apertura del muro di Berlino ha proiettato un’installazione artistica luminosa all’ambasciata tedesca di Praga e a settembre del 2014 nel Bauhaus Museum di Dessau la grande installazione COLORE FACCIATA FIGURA. Nel 2009 Geist ha realizzato una proiezione sul Palazzo del trono a Bangkok in occasione del compleanno del re tailandese Bhumibol. ----- The Berlin Philipp Geist is an acclaimed artist all over the world. On the occasion of the New Year's Eve 2016/2017, Geist projected the Time Drifts Cologne installation on the Cologne Cathedral.
