i wish you a happy 2020 ! I would like to inform you about upcoming and past projects.
From 17.1 - 31.3, there will be installed an art space with an immersive video work "Let yourself glow" in the Wertheim Village near Würzburg. From 29.2 to 21.06,
the group exhibition ??? = !!! will take placce in the Museum of Non-Object Art in Otterdorf. From 12th to 15th March,
I will show a walk-in video installation in Frankfurt as part of the Luminale.
Review: Highlight 2019 - The film for the Bauhaus 100 project is now online. From 12th to 14th September 2019, I recorded Walter Gropius' Bauhaus building in
Dessau from three sides on the occasion of the 100th anniversary. At the Prellerhaus, a combination of modern circus performance from Atemzug e.V.
and the Anhaltisches Theater, as well as sound by Lukas Taido and video mapping.

ein gutes neues Jahr 2020 wünsche ich!! Gerne möchte ich über vergangene und anstehende Projekte informieren.

Highlight 2019 - Der Film zu dem Bauhaus 100 Projekt ist nun online. Vom 12.-14. September 2019 bespielte ich von drei Seiten das Bauhaus-Gebäude von Walter Gropius in Dessau anlässlich des 100-Jährigen-Jubiläums. Am Prellerhaus fand eine Kombination aus moderner Zirkus-Performance von Atemzug e.V
und dem Anhaltischen Theater, sowie Sound von Lukas Taido und VideoMapping statt.

Gerne möchte ich anhand von Bildern einen Rückblick auf die vergangenen Monate zeigen. Es ging letztes Jahr u.a. nach Rom, Hong Kong, Moskau, Wolfsburg, Schöppingen, Gera, Dessau, Hamburg, München, Neuruppin und, last but not least, Berlin.
Des Weiteren arbeite ich an meinem Langzeit-Projekt ‚Hidden Places‘, bei dem ich temporäre, versteckte Orte bespiele. Es geht um flüchtige Projekte an temporären Orten, welche in Fotoarbeiten und Videos festgehalten werden. Im Atelier habe ich einige Mini-Projektionen auf Blumen umgesetzt. Darüber hinaus beschäftige ich mich mit Kunst-Drucken von meinen Lichtmalereien und meinen Installations- und Fotoarbeiten. Diese sind als Fine Art Print oder Leuchtkasten erhältlich.

Let yourself glow
Von 17. Januar bis Ende März entwickelt der Künstler Philipp Geist eine 'immersiv experience' , Lichtkunst-Installation im Artspace im Wertheim Village. Dabei projiziert Geist in einem Innenbereich. Die Besucher des Wertheim Village können in eine künstlerisch begehbare Projektionswelt eintauchen und werden zu einem Teil der Installation. Besucher durchschreiten die Bilderwelten aus abstrakt malerischen-puristischen Motiven. Der Künstler Philipp Geist verbindet sein, auf der Luminale 2020 in Frankfurt stattfindendes Projekt ‚Ariadnes Nacht’ mit der Installation in Wertheim Village. Mittels mehrerer Videoprojektoren projiziert er minimal-puristische, teils traumhafte und schemenhaft zerbrechliche Bildkompositionen. Er tritt damit in einen Dialog mit dem Ort, dem Thema ‚Digital Romantic, sowie den Besuchern.

Der Landkreis Cuxhaven, der Förderverein Museum gegenstandsfreier Kunst und das Museum gegenstandsfreier Kunst laden Sie und Ihre Freunde herzlich zur Ausstellungseröffnung
am Samstag, den 29. Februar 2020, 19:00 Uhr bis 22.00 Uhr, im Museum gegenstandsfreier Kunst ein.

Um 21:30 Uhr wird Philipp Geist die rückwärtige Fassade des Museums illuminieren. Künstlermatinée: Sonntag, den 1. März 2020, 11.00 Uhr Es erscheint ein Katalog Bereits 2007 stellten Andreas Schmid, 2011 Phillip Geist und 2012 Elisabeth Sonneck in Einzelausstellungen im Museum gegenstandsfreier Kunst ihr Oeuvre vor. Dem Museum gelang es, die Künstlerin und Künstler zu einem gemeinsamen Projekt erneut in das MgK einzuladen. Alle leben und arbeiten in Berlin und entwickelten dort ein Konzept, das im Parterre ihre Arbeiten in Korrespondenz bringt. In den oberen Räumen werden jeweils einzelne Installationen gezeigt. Ihre unmittelbare Auseinandersetzung mit Farbe und Licht, Bewegung und Raum werden sich so auf den zwei Etagen des Museums wiederfinden und die BesucherInnen in optischer und physischer Aktion in ihren Bann ziehen.

Im Rahmen der Luminale 2020 zeigt Philipp Geist eine begehbare Video-/ Lichtinstallation im Bethmann Park. Die Idee ist es, inmitten der pulsierenden Stadt Frankfurt eine poetische Oase aus Licht und Projektion zu schaffen. Projektionen ziehen schemenhaft, großformatig über die Bäume im Park. Gesichter und Porträts der Romantik, sowie Skulpturen und Gemälde aus der romantischen Sammlung werden in die abstrakten, malerischen Bilderwelten integriert. Dabei wird unter anderem auch die bekannte Skulptur „Ariadne auf dem Panther“ integriert. Die Skulptur schuf Johann Heinrich von Dannecker. Die Besucher werden selbst zu einem Teil der Installation und können den Park und die großflächigen Projektionen auf Bäume, den Boden und auf transparenten Nebel durchschreiten.
Projektionen auf Nebel und Wasserwände lassen über dem Weiher die Figuren und malerischen Projektionen im Raum erscheinen. Es entsteht ein Zusammenspiel zwischen der konkreten, greifbaren Projektion auf die Architektur, den schemenhaften Projektionen in den Bäumen und auf dem Boden sowie der transparenten, sich verflüchtigenden Projektionsfläche im Nebel.

As part of Luminale 2020, Philipp Geist is showing a walk-in video / light installation in Bethmann Park. The idea is to create a poetic oasis of light and projection in the middle of the vibrant city of Frankfurt. Projections draw a shadowy, large format over the trees in the park. Faces and portraits of romanticism, as well as sculptures and paintings from the romantic collection are integrated into the abstract, picturesque world of images. Among other things, the well-known sculpture ‚Ariadne on the Panther‘ is integrated. The sculpture was created by Johann Heinrich von Dannecker. Visitors themselves become part of the installation and can walk through the park and the large-scale projections onto trees, the ground and transparent fog.
Projections onto fog and water walls let the figures and picturesque projections appear in the room above the pond. There is an interaction between the concrete, tangible projection on the architecture, the shadowy projections in the trees and on the ground, and the transparent, evaporating projection surface in the fog.

Räumliche Videoinstallation 'UNTER FLÜGELN' in der Heilig-Geist-Kirche in München (Oktober 2019 )
Im Rahmen des in Münchner Kirchen stattfindenden Kirchen-Kunst-Projekts 'ÜberEngel' entwickelt der Berliner Künstler Philipp Geist (1976) eine begehbare Videoinstallation in der Heilig-Geist-Kirche.
Geist zeigt eine poetisch-malerische Lichtkunst-Video-Installation im Innenraum. Dabei projiziert er auf Wände, Säulen, auf die Decke der Kirche und auf flüchtigen Theaternebel, sowie auf transparente und abstrahierte Engelsflügel aus Gazestoffenbahnen, die von der Kirchendecke abgehängt sind. Geist projiziert Begriffe und verwehende Bildkompositionen. Engel tauchen aus dem Nichts auf und verschwinden wieder, grafische und amorphe Formen laden zu Interpretationen ein. Es entsteht ein Zusammenspiel aus Begriffen, abstrakt-malerischen Komponenten und visualisierten Elementen, teils verfremdet, teils figurativ.
Die Kirche als Ort der Toleranz soll verschiedene Kulturen und Religionen mit in das Projekt einbeziehen. Besucher der Kirche und Passanten werden eingeladen, im Vorfeld Begriffe in verschiedenen Sprachen und Engelszeichnungen abzugeben, welche dann in die Installation eingebaut. werden. Darüber hinaus werden Gebete und religiöse Begriffe in verschiedene Sprachen übersetzt, um die integrative und weltoffene Kirche zu thematisieren. Auf diese Weise werden Menschen mit unterschiedlichen Sprach- und Kulturhintergründen eingebunden.
Geists Projekte sind in erster Linie gekennzeichnet durch ihre Komplexität in der Integration von Raum, Ton und Bewegbild. Seine Video-Mapping-Installationen verwandeln verschiedenste Architekturen und Orte weltweit in bewegte, malerische Lichtskulpturen, die die Wahrnehmung der Betrachter von Zwei- und Dreidimensionalität herausfordern.
